NEW MAPPING APPLICATION NOW ON-LINE!!!
The Erie County Department of Environment and Planning, under Commissioner Kathy Konst, is pleased to announce the availability of the new “Erie County On– Map” application. This Internet mapping application is based on state of the art mapping technology, and showcases many new features that were not available in the prior mapping program.
With the release of this application, we have finalized the transition from our old system to this new ArcGIS Server/Geocortex Essentials technology. The planned decommission of the old ArcIMS-based mapping system was scheduled for the end of March. Over the next few months, we will be working on making improvements to the new application as well as developing an improved GIS portal to the site and updating the Help/Instructions pages.
The Office of GIS has received numerous comments regarding site access problems in the past weeks. We have identified the problem as a firewall port restriction. In cooperation with our IT staff, we have reconfigured the system so that this issue is corrected. However, this fix has forced us to slightly change the URLs for our applications as well as our help pages. Please note that any application bookmarks you may have made should be redone to reflect the new address. Thank you for your continued use of our application and we welcome any comments that may improve the system.

Users of the system are now able to mark up maps with symbols and text, save locations on the map as “bookmarks”, save mapping sessions and return to a session at a later time, search for properties and link to the property tax records for selected parcels, and create drive–time rings.
There is a wide variety of information that can be mapped with the On– Map program, including property parcels; streets; environmental factors such as wetlands, floodplains, soils, and slopes; legislative and school districts; and aerial photography.
